Summary
Set take profit and stop loss triggers on Hype perps, understand mark price triggers, and learn why fills may differ from trigger prices.
Take profit and stop loss are automatic triggers for closing a position.
- Take profit closes a position when price reaches a target gain.
- Stop loss closes a position when price reaches a selected loss level.
You can set take profit and stop loss when opening a position, or you can add or update them after the position is already open.
To edit take profit or stop loss on an open position:
- Open the position.
- Tap the edit or pencil icon.
- Select
Edit SL/TP. - Enter the desired trigger levels.
- Confirm the update.
Take profit and stop loss trigger from the mark price, not necessarily the chart price. The mark price is the protocol reference price that combines oracle pricing with local protocol activity. The chart may show last traded price, which can differ from mark price during volatile markets.
When a trigger hits, the close executes as a market order at the best available price. A slippage tolerance may apply. In fast-moving markets, the final fill price can differ from the trigger price, and in extreme conditions price can move past a stop loss before the order fills.
FAQ
Do stop loss and take profit use chart price?
No. They trigger from mark price.
Does a stop loss guarantee my exact exit price?
No. It triggers a market order, so the fill price can differ.
Can I add take profit or stop loss after opening a position?
Yes. Edit the open position and update SL/TP settings.
